ONEONTA FALLS
ONEONTA FALLS

This 100-foot waterfall is a hidden gem in the Columbia Gorge, and it is not exactly easy to get to.   While it is a short hike from the road, there is no trail.   Directly behind me from where I took this photo, is the Oneonta Gorge, which is nothing more than a slot canyon.  The creek fills the canyon from wall to wall with no choice but to wade in it to get to the falls.  At its deepest, the stream is about chest-deep (and ice cold) and requires care to keep your equipment above the water.
